Biography
Maurice J. (Mousie) Dowling of Riverview was one of Atlantic Canada’s most-gifted athletes on either a hockey rink or golf course. He played forward on several Maritime senior hockey champions in the late 1940s and professional in the U.S., winning an IAHL championship. Dowling served five years in the Canadian Army in the Second World War, but continued to play hockey for service teams.The Charlottetown native, who has called New Brunswick home since 1950, left hockey in 1951 and devoted his full-time athletic ability to golf, which he had played successfully for several years. He won close to 40 club, provincial and Maritime amateur and professional titles in a career that stretched from 1939 to 2001. He played on eight Willingdon Cup teams and in 10 national amateur and 29 CPGA events. He is in the Moncton, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia halls of fame, testimonies to his outstanding career. Inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, May 31, 2008.

Seven-time Maritime PGA Champion between 1969 and 1976.
Won the Super Senior Division 3 times.
Inducted into the Prince Edward Island Sports Hall of Fame in 1981.
Inducted into the Moncton Wall of Fame in 1989.
Inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Sydney Millionaires in 2000.
