Biography

Dean Hitchcock of Saint John played volleyball at the highest level for a decade. He started at Simonds High and played for the New Brunswick Canada Games and NB Junior and Senior teams. He was on the National Junior team at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Championship in 1976. A year later, he joined the Senior National team which took bronze in one of its two Pan-American Games appearances, and won the Commonwealth championship. Hitchcock competed in three World University Games, four Canada Cups, one World Cup, two Senior NORCECA tournaments and two World Championships. Known for his quiet leadership, Hitchcock was inducted into the Volleyball Canada Hall of Fame in 2001. Inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 8, 2013
