“Pickle” MacNichol is a product of the sporting environment that is St. Andrews, New Brunswick. This Shiretown native enjoyed a hockey career that spanned at least five leagues, four provinces and two decades.From a start as a New Brunswick high school player, he worked his way up the hockey ladder to junior play in Saskatoon, intermediate play with his home-town Senators, senior play in London, Ontario and Allan Cup championship play with the R.C.A.F. Flyers in Ottawa. His is well known for his coaching and player development contributions, but is best known for his uncanny ability at scoring goals and winning scoring championships, wherever his skates took him during those twenty years of active play. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4, 1977.
