Biography

Bill Ritchie is a throw-back to another era - that of the all-round athlete.He starred in rugby, basketball, baseball, and tennis in school and at St. Francis Xavier University.For these accomplishments he has been previously and appropriately honoured. He has served as Chairman or member of Sport Task Forces and Commissions, Provincial Supervisor of School Physical education, and as executive-director of the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association. But his greatest contribution to New Brunswick sport has been as a builder of basketball - as an official, author, clinician, examiner, and as a Provincial, Regional and National Executive.He is the only New Brunswicker who has received every major honour that his sport of basketball can confer upon him. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 7, 1986
