Biography

Dianne Norman of Fredericton is considered one of New Brunswick's all-time greatest female basketball players.During an illustrious career, she was on teams that represented Canada at two Olympic Games (Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000), the Pan-American Games, National and World University Games and twice at the Francophone Games.She joined Canada's junior team at 16 and continued to play for 17 years with the national program.She had an outstanding university career after playing with a Fredericton High School team that racked up 110 consecutive wins.Norman developed a strong physical game and created unique moves to overcome a height advantage enjoyed by taller opponents.She was inducted into the Fredericton Wall of Fame; is a two-time member of the Laurentian University Hall of Fame; and a former New Brunswick female athlete of the year. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 5, 2010.
