JOB TITLE: Communications Officer


Employer:  For more than 50 years, the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame has played a lead role in preserving and promoting our sports heritage.  We celebrate New Brunswick’s most inspiring athletes and sport builders at our annual Induction Gala and grant them permanent recognition in our provincial sports shrine.  Additionally, as a non-government incorporated charity run mostly by volunteers, we operate the only Sports Museum in New Brunswick.  With the mandate to strengthen New Brunswick’s cultural and societal fabric, through exhibitions, programming, and outreach, the NBSHF tells the amazing stories of New Brunswick’s most accomplished athletes and sport builders.  By honouring our best we inspire the rest. 

 

We want you on our team, if you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and can see yourself delivering awesome fun-filled programming.  The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies, writing and editing outreach materials, measuring the effectiveness of implemented communications efforts, and assisting with the delivery of programs and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Developing and implementing social media strategies to engage target audiences 

  • Leading the public relations and communications efforts by drafting, proof-reading, editing, and formatting content for email campaigns, social media posts, newsletters, press releases, etc. 

  • Brainstorming and developing print and/or electronic promo materials to encourage donor engagement/increase museum visitation and program participation/inspire New Brunswickers through the delivery of compelling stores about our Hall of Famers 

  • Measuring the effectiveness of implemented communications efforts by sourcing and analyzing data related to website traffic, social media metrics, and/or email campaign analytics 

  • Assisting with the coordination and delivery of outreach programs and special events

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-5 years of experience in communications, digital communications, marketing, project management, or similar roles

  • A degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Sport and/or Recreation, or another related field

  • Excellent time management with the ability to plan accordingly to project timelines and goals

  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills with proven ability to determine successful outcomes and goals including planning, organizing, problem solving and decision making


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French will be considered an asset

  • Knowledge of Google Ads/Google Analytics/Hootsuite will be consider an asset 


REMUNERATION:

  • The salary range is $39,780 to $48,130 per year, plus health and workplace benefits

  • Standard Work hours are 8:30-4:30

  • Flexible hours and work-from-home options

  • Three (3) weeks of vacation to start
