The Montreal media referred to him as “… the best and most-talked-of net-minder in amateur hockey…” Following a play-off game in Toronto, Ralph Allen of the Globe and Mail wrote that he had put on “one of the most amazing one-man shows the Gardens had seen in years.” He got his start under Bill Miller in Campbellton High School before moving on to Mount Allison where he served as goal-tender, captain and occasional coach.He starred on four Maritime Senior “A” championship teams from 1937 to 1941.As a finishing touch to his career, in April of ’42 he replaced an injured Chicago Black Hawk goaler in a crucial match against the Montreal Canadians- and won the game! The call of the business world was stronger than that of the N.H.L.; following his triumph for Chicago, he moved from the goal-crease to the executive suite.Allied’s gain was hockey’s loss. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 1st, 1991.
