Biography

Patty Blanchard of Moncton ran because it made her feel light and free. She established 11 provincial running records in a variety of open events ranging from the 800m to the half marathon.Her passion for running started at a young age and led her around the world; she competed for Team Canada on 8 teams with her first event taking place in Japan in 1993. As a master's runner, she set her first world record in the mile, in Boston, in 1999. This was followed by 3 other master's world records as well as 11 Canadian master's records. Patty also set 37 provincial age group records. She has received numerous sport awards from organizations such as Canadian Interuniversity Sport, Atlantic University Sport, Radio Canada, l'Acadie Nouvelle, Rotary International, and the Université de Moncton. Blanchard was inducted in the Run NB Hall of Fame in 2010.
