Biography

Joe Richard of Quispamsis has been a dedicated hockey administrator provincially and nationally for nearly 40 years.He has served on the boards of many associations, starting with minor hockey in Chatham.A former zone director and chair of the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association, Richard was the executive vice-chairman and an officer of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.A co-founder and governor of the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Joe continues his involvement in the QMJHL as a governor of the Saint John Sea Dogs.He was also vice-chairman of the QMJHL board and a Canadian Hockey League board member.Richard is an inductee of the Miramichi Sports Wall of Fame and the Saint Thomas University Sports Wall of Fame and a CAHA Volunteer of the Year. Enrolled into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, May 28, 2011

  • Cofounder and governor (1994 to 2003) of the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

  • Co-Chair of Canadian Hockey League’s 2000 Memorial Cup in Halifax, NS Vice-Chairman of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and Director on the Board of the CHL from 2001 to 2003 

  • 2005 to present - Governor of the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL)
