Biography

A builder is a special kind of person – he creates, he contributes, he enables, and he leads.Charles Humphrey Bonnycastle is a builder.He created the Kennebecasis Rowing Club in 1971, and nurtured it to national and international statures; he contributed his energies and talents to the revival of the prestigious Renforth Regatta; he enabled dozens of young men and women to achieve in a sport that demands discipline of mind and body; and he provided the kind of leadership that fostered phenomenal growth in rowing in New Brunswick and beyond.Freeman of the village of Renforth and former headmaster of Rothesay Collegiate, he richly deserves a special place in our provincial sports shrine. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4th, 1983.
