Biography

Guy Pellerin has worn referee’s stripes for 30 years. He first joined the Moncton Officials Association at age 18, where he went to work officiating high school and 18U games, refereeing players not much younger than he was. The Shediac native rose quickly through the ranks, to the Maritime Junior Hockey League, the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference, and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He officiated in nearly 475 games at that level and became a supervisor of officials for the league’s Maritime Division. Pellerin was the only Canadian amateur official to work at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A certified Level 6 official, he has drawn other international assignments, including the World Junior hockey championships in 2006 and 2009, world senior championship tournaments in Hungary, Russia, and Quebec in 2005, 2007 and 2008, and the Spengler Cup in Switzerland in 2008.
