After serving his apprenticeship in the junior leagues and as a professional in Pittsburgh and Syracuse, Gordon Drillon moved to Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto for six fabulous seasons and the to the Montreal forum and Les Canadiens.In his second year in the National Hockey League, he won the scoring championship, the Lady Byng Trophy and the right wing all-star berth.In his third season, he was voted by the fans as the most popular player in the league.His averages of 42 points, including 22 goals and only 9 minutes in penalties per season, are indicative of the quality of this amazing talent from Moncton.Fans remember well his line of Apps, Drillon, and Davidson, as one of the greatest of all time. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 27, 1970.
