Biography

To survive and prosper, sport must have its "franchise players." But, to exist in the first place, it must have its builders. New Brunswick has been richly blessed with dedicated individuals who see needs and work to fill them. One such builder is Don Ross. His base of operation was Loggieville; his sport was softball; his constituency included every man, woman, boy and girl who had an interest in swinging a bat and throwing a ball. The results of his efforts can be found in new and better ball fields, a stronger and more effective administrative structure for softball locally and provincially, and some 97 Provincial Championship teams, 93 of which included him as a player, coach or manager! Is it any wonder that he has been described as the leader of "the softball capital of the world"? Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4, 1994
