Biography

His contributions to New Brunswick golf have been such that he could have been considered as a builder; and his championship record is such that one would assume he was a one-man team. But it is his prowess as an athlete that has earned this native of the home of golf - St. Andrews, Scotland - his place in the Hall of Fame. Winner of two Maritime and nine New Brunswick-Prince Edward Island open tournaments, record holder on our own St. Andrews course (his score of 64 has held up since 1941!), and long-time professional at the Fredericton Golf Club, Archie Skinner is the "complete pro" - a perfectionist in his teaching and organizational talent - and to an even greater degree, in his ability at making a golf ball do his bidding. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4, 1977.
