Biography

Allain Roy of Campbellton is a professional hockey player. Young Roy knew he wanted to play professionally as a goaltender, so he moved to Connecticut,US and joined his prep school team. Later, he played for Harvard Crimson, where he distinguished himself by receiving 2 all-ivy awards. Accumulating impressive stats with the Crimson, he made Harvard’s history books as being in the top 10 for saves. After graduation, Roy played for the Winnipeg Jets in 1993 and made the Canadian National Team 3 times including in 1994 when Team Canada brought home the Olympic silver medal from Lillyhammer. Throughout his career he also played in numerous national and international leagues across North America and Europe.

  • Silver medalist at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway in Men’s hockey. 

  • Won the league championship in the SM Liiga in 1993-94, the top professional league in Finland. 

  • Drafted 69 overall in the 1989 NHL entry draft by the Winnipeg Jets 

  • Won the NCAA Division 1 Championship with the Harvard University Crimson in 1988-89 

  • Named to Canadian National Team three times.
