Biography
It's quite a leap from Moncton, where he was born and raised and first refereed basketball, to international officiating assignments from Athens to Taipae, and from Havana to Rome. Such a leap required years of honing his skills at the local, Interscholastic, Junior, Senior and Intercollegiate championship levels as well as at the Canada Games. In 1987 he handled the whistle at what has been described as the finest basketball game ever played in Europe - a 103-101 victory by host Greece over the Soviet Union. But the highlight of his career occurred in 1992 when he was selected to officiate the gold medal game at the Barcelona Olympics between "Dream Team" USA and Croatia. He has returned to his roots - the local and provincial basketball courts where it all began - and remains, as always, truly a players' referee. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 3rd, 2000.
