Biography
Saint John’s David Foley was a professional soccer player who played with the Winnipeg Fury Soccer Club in the Canadian Soccer League. He was the franchise’s leading goal scorer when he retired in 1991. Foley played soccer in his youth in Hampton, NB, and continued his passion for the sport at the university level; he received multiple MVP/All Canadian team selection honours while attending UNB. He was captain and multiple MVP of the Varsity Red Shirts men’s soccer team at the University of New Brunswick and remains the highest scorer in the history of the UNB soccer program. Prior to playing professionally Foley was a nationally-carded athlete with the Canadian National Youth Team program. He has the distinction of being the first soccer athlete inductee in the NB Sports Hall of Fame. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4, 2016
