He was often quoted as saying that he played hockey for the better part of 20 years because he loved the game, and because it gave him a chance to experience the world. That world, which for him began in Sydney Mines, included stops in Oromocto, Edmonton, Penticton, St. Louis, Portland, Salt Lake, Vancouver, Hartford, and in Germany and Italy. Everywhere he played he displayed a magic touch around the goal, - in the CHL, AHL, and NHL; as a member of Canada’s National Junior and bronze medal Izvestia teams; as well as with the 1982 Stanley Cup finalist VancouverCanucks.Tows of his best years were those he spent as a member of the AHL’s Fredericton Express. Since retiring he has dedicated much of his energies to assisting others who have the same love for hockey.Through his volunteer work, the Currie Express continues to roll. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 1st, 2002.
