At the age of 17 Carole Keyes moved from Woodstock to Montreal where she pursued university studies in athletic therapy.On weekends and holidays, she commuted to Lake Placid to master the injury-defying science of “luge.” The results?Between 1975 and 1984 she competed as a member of Canada’s National Luge Team in six National, North American and World Championships; and in three Winter Olympic Games.Between 1985 and 1988, she served as the National Team coach at two more World Championships and the Calgary Olympics.In her “spare” time, she served as athletic therapist to Canada’s Women’s Basketball Team in Pan-American, World Student, and Olympic competitions. Her province of birth and early education is proud to claim this most Olympian of athletes as one of its very own. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 3rd, 1995.
