Biography

Lou Beatty of Woodstock won his first golf championship when his fellow-inductee, John Sears, was but 2 years old! At the age of 52, he set the all-time course record of 61 on his home course, and when he was 63, he managed to shoot his age. Combine three New Brunswick - Prince Edward Island Willingdon Cup team and six consecutive New Brunswick Senior team selections, five Maritime Senior titles and twelve Regional, District, and Old Home Week Invitational championships and you begin to see just how successful he has been in New Brunswick golfing circles over a period of some forty-six years. In 1978, he retired from school teaching after forty years of service.Since that time, he has devoted his energies to helping younger golfers reach their potential and, at the time, retain that touch that allows him to continue to shoot no higher than his age! Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 2nd, 1984.
