Biography

This year of the 21st Olympiad, it is only right that New Brunswick should pay special homage to one of our very few native sons who carried Canada’s colours in previous Olympic Games.“Zan” Miller, Canadian field events champion in the high jump and broad jump was selected to represent Canada at the Paris Games in 1924.An injury prevented him from completing the competition. De Coubertin has been quoted as saying that the real prize of the Olympic Games is just being selected to participate. It is along and high jump from Sussex to Canadian championships and from there to Paris, but Andrew Miller did it – and New Brunswick is proud to recognize him now. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 5, 1976.
