Biography
Even the most avid of curling followers must have assumed that 1976 was the first National Championship year for an Atlantic Province representative. But such was not the case, for in 1963 the Moncton Beaver Ladies Curling Club Rink comprised of Mable DeWare, (Skip); Harriet Stratton, (Mate); Forbis Stevenson, (Second); and Marjorie Fraser, (Lead). They captured the Dominion Diamond “D” Championship – emblematic of national supremacy in the “Roaring Game.” These lassies are members of the only New Brunswick rink ever to win the national championship – and they did it in front of their provincial fans in the city of Saint John. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 5th, 1976.
