Biography

Jeffrey Scholten of Fredericton set five world speed skating records throughout his decorated career. His abilities were quickly recognised at a young age, having placed first in the Maritime Championships three times in five years. Scholten went on to represent New Brunswick and Canada, in National and International competitions from 1994 to 2007, both individually and as a team member. In 2000, he was inducted into the Speed Skating Canada Hall of Fame. Enrolled into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame May 27, 2017

Quick Facts

  • Holder of five world records overall with three in the 500m, one in the 1,000m and one in the 5,000m team relay. 

  • Made Senior Men National Team Selection seven times since 1999 

  • Won the Bronze medal in the 5000m relay at the 1999 ISU World Championships 

  • At the 2003 ISU World Team Championships and ISU World Cup placed 1st overall with 4 medals 

  • Inducted into the Speed Skating Canada Hall of Fame in 2000
