Biography
The 2001 Saint John Alpines were a powerhouse in the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League under head coach Mike Skidd and general manager Terre Hunter. Their crowning achievement came when they won the Canadian Senior Baseball Championship in Kentville, N.S., becoming the first team to claim both national and provincial titles in the same season. They followed up with a silver medal at the 2002 national championship in Prince George, B.C. Over those two seasons, the Alpines dominated the league with a 41-19 record. Inducted into the Saint John Sports Hall of Fame in 2006, the Alpines remain to be one of the province’s most celebrated baseball teams.
