Biography

The 1940s and 50s were described as “an era when baseball was almost a religion in Marysville. . .”Well, every religion needs its guru, - and in this instance, Curt Moore filled that role, for his was indeed “the King of the Hill, - Baseball Hill.” Successful pitcher, competent fielder, and prolific power hitter, he once won 14 of 16 pitching starts in play-off competition while batting an impressive .333. Not even a five-year stint in the Canadian army reduced his post-war effectiveness as the star attraction, the “Ted Williams of Maritime Baseball, “ the man, according to catcher Don Johnson, “the all came out to see play.” At a time when the American import was common-place, Curt won more than his fair share of all-star berths and batting crowns. No wonder Baseball New Brunswick selected him as a charter member of its shrine in 1989. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, May 29, 1993
