Boiestown’s Judy Astle dedicated her life to coaching, administration, and volunteering, leaving a lasting impact across multiple sports. Over a 36-year career at Upper Miramichi Regional High School, she coached every sport offered, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, and softball. She also served as assistant coach with the UNB women’s basketball program. However, it was in golf that she made her deepest mark. Astle has been a key figure at Old Mill Pond Golf Club for nearly 40 years, rising to president, and served as president of Golf New Brunswick. She was a nationally certified Level 3 rules official who officiated at major tournaments throughout Canada and served on Golf Canada Governor’s Council. Her contributions earned her Sport NB Female Official of the year in 2018, Golf NB Volunteer of the Year in 2022 and the Order of New Brunswick in 2018.
