Biography

George Chase of Saint John excelled in long-range rifle shooting, a sport requiring precision, control, and endurance. Over a 35-year career, he competed in 23 national championships, winning the Grand Aggregate title in 2003 and finishing in the top three multiple times. He twice claimed the title of Canadian full-bore champion. Chase represented Canada at the prestigious Imperial Shooting Match in Bisley, England, 14 times and served as president of the Royal New Brunswick Rifle Association. A dedicated mentor, he coached provincial, national, and international teams. His achievements earned him a place in the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association Hall of Fame in 2000. A true marksman and leader, Chase helped shape the sport of competitive shooting in Canada.
