Biography

The achievements of so many Canadian figure skaters in World and Olympic competitions are the results of the efforts of literally hundreds of clubs from coast to coast and thousands of volunteers who serve these clubs as leaders, organizers and enablers. Lesley Armstrong has been one of those volunteers for some 31 years. She has coached, managed, choreographed, directed and promoted skating at her club in Sussex and, more recently, at the Provincial and National levels. From her earliest skating days on the Kennebecasis River through her bout with polio at age 16 and the years of competitive skating that followed her courageous recovery to the present time, she has provided the kind of example and leadership that now allow us to honour her as a major builder of New Brunswick Sport. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 6th, 1987.
