As a 13 year old, he broadcast a softball game from Campbellton’s Riverside Park.Then he moved into the print media while serving as the radio voice of his Campbellton Tigers.In 1970 the gondola in Maple Leaf Gardens welcomed him.Two years later he began his play-by-play career with the Calgary Flames. Over 2,500 broadcast; more than 1,600 games in a row; NHL All-Star and Stanley Cup playoff games; - he did them all, - and many say better than anyone else anywhere else, ever!And he never missed a game! He is saluted as well for his work on behalf of the intellectually disabled through his leadership role in 30 years of North-South All-Star games.To paraphrase his favourite opening radio line:“Tonight we present” – Peter Maher, the Cal Ripken of hockey broadcasters.
