This remarkable career of accomplishment on the cinders and in the boardrooms of the world to Track and Field began in her native Moncton in 1945, and continues in her adopted province of British Columbia. She was the first woman to be elected president of a national track and field association, one of the first winners of the Air Canada Achievement Award, and the first woman to be elected Honorary Vice-President of the International Amateur Athletic Federation Congress. We could honour her for her coaching, - at U.B.C and her own Richmond Club; and we could honour her for revitalizing the Canadian Track and Field Association from the bottom up. But it is the performer we salute, our own provincial track athlete of the year (1954), and Olympic team performer in 1956, Quebec’s athlete-of-the-year and one of Canada’s goodwill ambassadors to the Caribbean in 1957, and the holder of a host of sprint records culminating in a Bronze Medal in Cardiff’s 1958 Commonwealth Games. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 2, 1979.
