For 35 years he served with distinction as a teacher, mentor, clinician, athletic administrator, innovator, but, most of all, coach. His sports were volleyball, cross country running, basketball, soccer and track and field at the high school, university, provincial and national team levels.He was especially committed to the National Coaching Certification Program.In fact, some 2,000 coaches enrolled in his courses, representative of more than 30,000 athletes! His friend and fellow sport psychologist, Dr. Peter Jensen said this: “He has that strong developmental bias that exists in those exceptional coaches who don’t just instruct but change young peoples’ lives”. Clearly, regardless of the leadership hat he was wearing at any one time, he practiced what he preached- that sport, regardless of level or outcome- was a world in which he and those he coached, taught or supervised,could live forever.
