Biographie

Boxers Britt, Chamberlain, Coleman and Young may not be household names in Canada. But they have at least these three things in common: they are graduates of Saint John's Golden Glove Boxing Club, they were National champions, and they learned their craft from Ralph Thomas. The "Tiger" hung up his padded gloves at age 26 in order to join forces with Albert Roche in fashioning and funding an amateur boxing club for the youth of Saint John. He founded the New Brunswick Amateur Boxing Association and then served as its president for 20 years. For some 28 years he served with distinction on the board of the Canadian Amateur Boxing Association. Even more important, however, has been his role as mentor to the hundreds of youngsters who chose to participate in his sport of amateur boxing. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 3rd, 2000.
