Windsor, Ontario’s loss was New Brunswick’s gain when, as a 12 year old, she moved to the Kennebecasis Valley.Lucky for us; luckier still for the sport of field hockey. It was at Kennebecasis Valley High School that she was introduced to a sport that would take her, via the University of New Brunswick and York University, to five Canadian intercollegiate all-star selections, two Pan-American Games, four World Cups, the World Student Games, and three Olympic Games. For 12 years she starred on Canada’s National team, serving as captain for seven of those years.Since retiring in 1994 she has turned to coaching at the University of Waterloo and with Canada’s National Junior team. A former England National coach said this: “Sharon was a player any international coach would have been privileged to have – committed, skilful and above all, loyal and passionate for her team, Canada”. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 3rd, 2000.
