Biographie

With a name like Jim Fox, he had to grow up to be a baseball player! Saint John ’s version of that famous name was just that; but he was also a prolific hockey goal scorer, an outstanding basketball player, Saint John’s 1948 best all-round athlete, and the coach of many championship school and community teams in all three sports. He displayed his baseball virtuosity as a pitcher, outfielder, and first baseman in New Brunswick and Quebec, and across the border in the Boston red sox farm system. For almost two decades his accomplishments dominated the provincial sport pages. He’s done it all – from sand-lotter to amateur star to professional athlete to leader-coach; and he didn’t need a second “x” in his name to gain our acclaim. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, May 30th, 1981.
