Biographie
Although he was born and raised in Cape Breton, he became indelibly identified as a Frederictonian following his return to UNB as hockey coach in 1967. His coaching career at McMaster and UNBF was succeeded by more than 30 years as a hockey executive at the local, provincial and national levels.From technical director to chairman of Hockey Canada, he fashioned a record of administrative and program initiatives that continue to serve our national sport. From the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame and Fredericton Sports Investments to the Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Interuniversity Sport and the International Ice Hockey Federation, to 16 years of board service to the New Brunswick Special Olympics, and his years of academic and professional leadership in UNB’s Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, his was a career filled with challenges met and overcome.Small wonder that in 2002 he was awarded the United Nations “Year of the Volunteer” medal. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 9, 2007.

Member of the Hockey Development Council of Hockey Canada,1972-1990 (chaired for 4 years)
In 1983, established and organized the first provincial and Atlantic under-17 hockey evaluation camp at UNB, leading to the first Atlantic under-17 team
First person named life member for Hockey New Brunswick in 1988
Served as Vice-Chair of the Hockey Canada from 1990 to 1991, Executive Vice-Chair from 1991-1993, Chairman of the Board from 1993 to 1995, and Past Chairman for Hockey Canada from 1995 to 1997
Board member for Special Olympics NB from 1989 to 2005 (Vice-President from 2000 to 2005)
Board member for Special Olympics Canada from 2000 to 2003 Board member for the Canadian Olympic Association from 1993 to 1997
Board member of the Fredericton Sports Investments from 1995 to 2006 Board member of the International Ice Hockey Federation from 1993 to 1995
Became the official delegate for the Canadian Hockey Association in 1994 at the Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway and named to the Canadian Olympic Games mission staff for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2002
Awarded the United Nations Year of the Volunteer medal in 2002
