Biographie
Fredericton native Stephen Gough skated on the world stage in an outstanding career that started at the age of nine in his hometown.Over the next years, he would win medals in provincial, national and world competitions as a short-track speed skater.This included being a member of the men’s 5,000-metre relay team that finished fourth at the 1994 Olympic Winter Games of Lillehammer, Norway.He was also a member of the medal-winning teams in two 1994 world championship competitions. Gough established two North American records, along with setting national and provincial standards.He rebounded from a serious leg injury in 1995 to perform at a high level and finished his career in 1998 as a member of the national team. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 6, 2009
