Biographie
Grace (Sewell) Donald of Fredericton had outstanding careers in golf and curling at the highest levels of competition in New Brunswick and nationally.She was a member of provincial golf teams that competed nationally in four different decades (1960s to the 1990s), including 16 consecutive years.She skipped rinks to New Brunswick curling championships and moved to the national scene in four decades (1970s to the 2000s).On eight occasions, Donald held both provincial golf and curling championships in the same year.She won the N.B. Scott Tournament of Hearts twice when she was a Senior and is the oldest skip ever to compete at the national event.She competed at the provincial ladies curling championship for 25 consecutive years.Donald has been honoured many times for her lengthy and remarkable career, including induction into the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame. Did not begin participating in either sport until she was in her early 20s
Had to battle sexual discrimination in both sports during the 1960s and 1970s but excelled despite the restrictions AND worked to level the playing field at clubs for other women
From 1960 to 1996 she won 18 Club Championships at the Fredericton Golf and Curling Club
Eight times she held the provincial golf and the provincial curling championship titles in the same year
