Biographie

Ted Elliot was the man who single-handedly established New Brunswick’s interscholastic badminton championships. In addition, he served his sport in an executive capacity at the provincial, regional and national levels for 25 years or more. But, it is Ted Elliot the athlete we now honour. His golden years of tournament play were from 1932 to 1961.His absence from competition due to war service kept his championship total down to a truly remarkable 15 Maritime titles – 2 in single, 11 in doubles, and 2 in mixed doubles. In 1956 he was made an honorary life vice-president of the Canadian Badminton Association for his administrative service; tonight, however, we focus on his outstanding achievements as a competitor. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 4th, 1983.
