Danny Grant came from Barkers Point and his first “rink” was Bird’s Pond.It was clear from the beginning of his minor career that he was indeed a potential super-star! He was the National Hockey League’s rookie of the year; and he was only the fifth player to play in 500 consecutive games and the twelfth to score 50 or more goals in a single season. He was the only player to win television’s “SHOW-DOWN IN THE N.H.L.” series twice – competing against the very best players in the world. Community leaders, champion of innumerable charitable causes, role model for youngsters everywhere, outstanding performer for Minnesota, Detroit and Los Angeles, he will always be remembered as one who could put the puck in the net better than most.
