It’s a long way from a church basement in Eel River Crossing, NB to Such places as Havana, Moscow, Munich, Berlin, and New York City. Between 1968 and 1978 Léo-Charles Pelletier negotiated those distances on the strength of his boxing skills. He climbed into the amateur ring for 132 bouts in his eleven year career - and had his gloved hand raised in victory 112 times. He won 34 of his 39 international bouts as a member of Canada’s National Boxing team. So, at least in a sporting sense, his favorite colour was gold! Throughout his career, and ever since, he has given to his community and his province the kind of dedicated service and commitment that were the hallmarks of his outstanding career through his contributions as coach, recreation council member, sport executive, and youth counsellor.
