Biographie

Trivia question: What two ingredients do the Beavers, Hawks, Road Runners, Cubs, Schooners, Viponds and Esquires have in common? Answer: First, these are the names of Moncton-based sport teams; and second, they all featured the marvellously talented Phil Doiron, a charter member of Moncton’s Sports Wall of Fame. His hockey skills took him to the finals of the Memorial Cup and the Allan Cup in Eastern Canada, while his talents in baseball were enough to get him selected as a member of the Canadian national team for the 1967 Pan American Games. After scoring five goals in a Boston Bruins pre-season inter-squad game, he decided that his future in sports lay in Moncton. Inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame on June 4, 1994.
