Saint John’s Ed Blanchard has spent more than half of his life involved in boxing. Blanchard has served more than 30 years on the board of directors of the Saint John Golden Gloves Boxing Club and as the referee in charge of local and provincial boxing cards. He served more than 13 years as the president of Boxing New Brunswick and has been involved in all levels of boxing in the province. Blanchard has trained referees and judges in the sport in New Brunswick since 1987. Blanchard also has an international pedigree, representing Canada as an official at 16 international competitions. Over the past 35 years, he has officiated at more than 75 Canadian championships, including six Canada Winter Games. He was named to the Greater Saint John Sports Wall of Fame in 2008, and he was inducted into the Boxing Canada Hall of Fame in 2020.
