In 1982 Jim MacLaggan was named Sports Executive of the Year by Sport New Brunswick. Many believe that this Blackville native and Bathurst resident could have been so acclaimed in each of the past twenty-seven years. Hockey and baseball have been his main sport beats. He was instrumental in the founding of the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association, and has served that body and its national counter-part, the C.A.H.A. with distinction in a variety of senior executive positions. His contributions to amateur baseball have run the gamut from team manager to federation director. By honouring him we are confirming the continuing need for leaders whose contributions as administrators make it possible for coaches to coach and athletes to compete.
